Hello, my name is Carol.

I’ve been battling a chronic illness called Hidradenitis Suppurativa for over 20 years now. It’s an auto-inflammatory disease and because of having this, I have developed several other illnesses too. These include Fibromyalgia, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), Restless Leg Syndrome and anemia. Just to name a few.

I also have fibroids and tremors. My legs are becoming painful and weak. It can be difficult to walk at times, so I recently started using a cane when needed. I get spasms throughout my body too, which are quite intense.

This has been a very long and painful journey that I have been on. I went from working full time to not being able to work at all. I’m thankful my hubby is so supportive and has helped me through all the difficult days. I also used to be very active. Riding horses and hiking were my hobbies. I can no longer do this because of these illnesses and the pain they cause.

Through this journey I have learned to accept life as it is. I have met many wonderful online friends, in the Chronic Illness Community, that are amazing. I now write to keep myself busy and to get all my emotions and feelings out. It has really helped me heal mentally. I have 3 sweet fur loves that keep me entertained when my family is not at home. Puppy cuddles are amazing and brighten days! My dreams have also changed. They include seeking out a place near the water or maybe even having a swimming pool as I can still swim! I’m so thankful for that! I have also rediscovered my love for photography and nature. I absolutely love capturing the beauty that surrounds me.

I’m Hoping this will HELP others realize that they don’t have to FIGHT this alone, and your love for life can continue to grow. TOGETHER WE ARE STRONG!
