My name is Angelique Gilchrist. I run a blog for Fibromyalgia Sufferers along with a support group and all social media accounts. Burnedette Bodenstein is a member of my support group for Fibromyalgia. She is 39 years old and lives in Claremont, Pretoria.
After the announcement of the extension of the lockdown, Burnedette relayed her current situation to me on our support group. I am extremely worried about this family and have decided to try and help them. This family was already in a bad state prior to the lockdown due to COVID-19, both medically and financially. They are now in a desperate situation! Burnedette was retrenched 2 years ago and her husband runs a glass repair company with his brother. This company had to close during the lockdown and may only do extreme emergencies which are very few and far between. With no work, there is no income. Their 5 employees are also not being paid. This family has 2 children to look after, a bond to pay, water, rates & taxes and prepaid electricity to pay. They require medication for Burnedette, who suffers from Fibromyalgia, and also for their 8-year-old son who suffers from encopresis. This medication is vital. They still have to buy food for the entire family, which includes their pensioner father, their brother, his wife and their 2 children. 9 mouths in total to feed!
Over and above this, they also have 4 dogs & 5 cats to feed. This family is in desperate need of assistance. Without assistance, they will not be able to pay the bond, purchase electricity, pay for water, rates and taxes, purchase medication, purchase food and provide food for their animals. The family needs at least R19000 per month to survive. They are already half a bond repayment behind and they will not be able to purchase electricity. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. Please share this campaign with as many people as you can so that we can urgently get assistance for the family.
The goal is R38000, R19000 for end of April and R19000 for the end of May. If the lockdown is lifted on the 1st of May, then they will be able to return to work and get back on their feet. If the lockdown continues into June or July, then they would need a further R19000. In total, they need R57000.
Reaching this target will certainly save this family. It would enable them to feed themselves, purchase vital medication, purchase electricity, pay water, rates and taxes and pay the bond too. The donations are really and truly going to help a family in desperate need. Without assistance, they will have no one else to turn too.
Funds raised will cover:
Bond – R5000 (FNB will not provide payment holiday as this bond account is already in arrears)
Electicity – R3500
Water, Rates & Taxes – R2100
Medication – R1600 approximately
Animal Food – R1300
Food for the family (9 people) – R5500
This expenses have been trimmed as much as possible and are very conservative.
